Glenda Jaunece Barry

Glenda Jaunece Barry, 97, of Paragould, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. She was born in Marmaduke on May 15, 1925, to the late Levi and Eulale Winstead. She graduated from Marmaduke High School in the early 1940s. Glenda married Albert "Shorty" Barry on January 3, 1947. For 34 years, she worked as a secretary and interviewer for the Arkansas Employment Security Division. She also spent eight years working at First Baptist Church and two years with the Selective Service. Glenda was an excellent cook. A couple of her favorites were her sour dough bread and her caramels. Glenda was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for years and was involved in the Women's Missionary Union. Glenda was also a member of the Business Professional Women. She enjoyed yard work and being outside. Glenda was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father, Levi Winstead; mother and step-father, Eulale and Martin Glaub; husband, Shorty Barry; and brother, Maurice Winstead.

Glenda is survived by her daughter, Anna Marie (George) Spence of Paragould; son, Steve (Aleda) Barry of Grapevine, Texas; grandchildren, Andrea Spence, Barry (Brittany) Spence, Annyse Barry, and Steven Barry; great grandchildren, Brody Williams, Lily Spence, and Hyde Spence; sisters, Gaye Wiley of Piggott and Faye Graham of Jackson, Tennessee; and many nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends Friday from 12-1 PM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 1 PM with Rev. Scott Neathery and Dr. Tony Cherry officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens. To honor Glenda, memorials can be sent to First Baptist Church in Paragould.
