Glen Devon Maple, 80, of Light passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018. He was born February 14, 1938 to L.W. and Lida Maple.
As a lifelong member of the Light community he was known as an avid farmer who spent his life doing what he loved, planting, nurturing, and harvesting the land.
In 1963 Glen married the love of his life Shirley Dulaney Maple. He believed “when two people really, really love each other, even rainy days are fun.”
Glen was a born again Christian and loved the lord. He was a member of Light Baptist Church where he was an ordained and served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers Alvin, Bob, Donald Maple and Sister Joanna Miller.
Survivors include wife, Shirley Dulaney Maple, Brother Leonard (Mary Jane) Maple, sisters Dottie (Ralph) Gossett and Peggy (Bill) Whitlow. His special children of many nephews, nieces and greats.
Pallbearers include: Chuck Davis, Joe Pratt, Gary Grimes, Patrick Ballard, Jesse Hancock, and Harvey Songer.
The Family will receive friends on Friday, November 23 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday, November 24 in the Heath Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 1 pm with Rev. Tommy Stacy officiating. Burial will follow at Mt Zion cemetery.
