Gerald W. Adams

Gerald Wayne "Gerry" Adams, Jr., went to his heavenly home on March 4, 2022, at the age of 70. Gerald grew up in Arbyrd, graduated from Southland High School, and obtained his accounting degree from Arkansas State University. He had a great passion for sports. Gerald spent several years as a professional baseball umpire. When he returned home, he continued his sports enjoyment as a local baseball umpire and basketball referee. Gerald was a farmer until the family sold the farm. He later became a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. Over the last few years, he spent a lot of time helping with the American Legion. Gerald was a member of the Senath First Baptist Church. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald "Dub", Sr. and Maerene Grissom Adams; brother, David Adams; and cousin (who was more like a sister), Crissie McNeil Jumper.

Gerald is survived by his sister, Angela Adams of Paragould; special nieces, Natalie (David) Engelken of Paragould, Nikki (Parker) Blake of Little Rock, and Jennifer Beggs of Waco, Texas; cousins, Cathy McNeil Lambert of Jackson, Missouri, Jeanne McNeil Hosman of Paragould, and Kelly Moses of Gulfport, Mississippi; special great nieces, Weslynn, Lydia, and Austin Claire; special great nephews, Gavin, Kingston, Princeton, and Lukas; and several more nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, from 12-2pm at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. The funeral will begin at 2pm with Kelly Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Randy Smith, Bill Schatzley, Greg Layne, Rick Campbell, Derrick Higgins, and Ken Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Larry and Barbara Petty, Ron and Shirley Brannum, Jim Burgess, David and Kim Kellums, Ronnie Cude, and Mardon Layne.
