Gary Evans Wise

d. July 13, 2019

Gary Evans Wise, 82, of Paragould, Arkansas, ended his battle with dementia and Parkinson’s disease, and earned his place with the Lord in heaven on July 13, 2019, at his home. He was born on December 16, 1936 in Walcott, Arkansas.
Gary was a 1955 graduate of Greene County Tech High School. He served in the United States Army from 1959 – 1961, serving twenty months in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge from the military he became a lifelong salesman, working with clothing, farm equipment and land. Gary had grown up with responsibilities, and his father taught him the value of hard work early on, and because of this he had an excellent work ethic. He worked his entire life from daylight to dark for others and his own businesses. He bought his own farm and for two decades continued his passion of working with horses.
Gary was raised with a church upbringing, and was a faithful, longtime member of East Side Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and on many committees. In addition, Gary was a 32nd degree Master Mason with the Shriners.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Connie “J.C.” and Mabel Idilla (Green) Wise. He is also preceded in death by brothers Joseph Connie “Joe” Wise, Jr., and Huey Parker Wise, sisters Catherine (Wise) Stone and Billie Ann (Wise) Roche. Gary is survived by his soulmate of sixty years and the love of his life, Goldie Jean (Dulaney) Wise, and was blessed with sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Don and Ronette (Lepley) Wise of Paragould, AR and Greg Evans and Brandi (Brown) Wise of Bentonville, AR, all surviving. He also leaves behind his precious grandchildren: Garrett Lee and wife Haven (Saffell) Wise, Grant Alan Wise, Delaney Kathryn Wise, Claire Evans Wise, and Ella Elizabeth Wise, as well as several nieces and nephews. Gary’s family would like to say a special thank you to Arkansas Home Hospice Care, and to his amazing caregivers Candice, Janice and Shay.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17 from 6:00 to 8:00, and a Celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Heath Funeral Home on Thursday, July 18 at 11:00, followed by a burial with military funeral honors, at Linwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his family respectfully asks that donations be made to either Shriner’s Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, or East Side Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Gary Don, Greg, Garrett, Grant, Delaney, Claire and Ella Wise.
