Garry Lee Newberry

Garry Lee Newberry, 56, of Paragould, passed away Saturday at St. Bernard's Medical Center. He worked in maintenance at the Paragould School District and Greene County Tech for almost 20 years. He loved motorcycles and began racing at an early age. Even in winter temperatures, Garry could be seen riding a motorcycle. He had a knack for small engines. Garry could work on anything that had an engine and usually have it running smoothly within minutes. He was preceded in death by his father, Geral Newberry.

Survivors included wife of 27 years, Sharon Smith Newberry; mother, Betty Newberry; sisters, Charlotte (Raymond) Ashcraft and Sheila Newberry; nephews, Mackie Smith III, Jeremy (Kimberly) McClelland, Jason (Tiffany) McClelland, and Joshua Ashcraft; brother-in-law, Mackie Smith, Jr.; sister-in-law, Peggy Smith; mother-in-law, Joyce Smith; and 4 dogs including his special Sammy Jo.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-7 at Heath Funeral Home. A graveside funeral will be Tuesday at 10am at Linwood Cemetery with Rev. Greg Rainwater officiating. Pallbearers will be Mackie Smith, Jr., Ray Ashcraft, Jason McClelland, and Jeremy McClelland.
