Garland Chestene Loyd, 88, of Paragould, died Friday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1925 in Jasper, Alabama. Chestene was a devoted, longtime member of Robb’s Chapel Baptist Church serving as treasurer for 36 years and was a clerk at Kroger in Paragould for 37 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Susie Henderson Loyd; brothers, Clarence, Rufus and Jerry Don Loyd; sisters, Rosie Dubar, Francis Singleton, Ruth Beggs and Alice Robertson. Chestene is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Loyd of the home; daughter, Debbie Loyd Bain of Bentonville, AR; son Lanz D. Loyd and Debbie “Nurse†Farrell of Paragould; sister Nell Vincent of Shelby Township, MI., a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00-8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 P.M. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Revs. Royce Boling and John Paul Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Jackson, Frankie Swindle, David Martin, Charlie Roe, Leonard Elkins and Ed Miller. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff Warner, Ed Walls, David Singleton, Bob Singleton, David Rousseau and Elbert Carr. Memorials may be made to Robb’s Chapel Baptist Church.
