Eva “Bertina” Boozer Emery, 84 of Walcott, Arkansas went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Bertina was born on October 12th, 1930, in Walcott, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late William (Bill) Boozer and Stella Gramling Boozer. She married Paul Emery in October of 1977. He preceded her in death after 32 years of marriage. Also preceding Bertina in death were, one grandson, Richard Samuel Newberry; one step-granddaughter, Tracey Exum, and several aunts and uncles. Bertina is survived by her sons, Richard Newberry and wife, Paula of Walcott; Roger Newberry of Paragould; two step-daughters, Paulette Mobley of Florida; Trish Tarkington and husband Max, of Jonesboro; and a step-son, Rick Emery and wife Tonya, of Jonesboro; 6 grandchildren, Matt (Laura) Newberry, Nick (Sarah) Newberry, Lindsay (Quincy) Roberts, David (Ashley) Arnold, Jason (Micah) Arnold, and Bryan (Jennifer) Emery; 9 great-grandchildren, Kameron Newberry, Ella Roberts, Dawson Arnold, Addison and Emery Arnold, Alexis and Landon Emery, and Blair and Ty Exum; a beloved caretaker, Wilma Roush, as well as her loving church family at Walcott Baptist Church, where she was a lifetime member. Bertina loved teaching the children’s Sunday school class at Walcott Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she was a faithful loving member. She worked at Ed White Shoe Company for 20 years before moving on to Arkansas State University Purchasing Department, where she retired in 1998. She enjoyed gardening with her husband and caring for the elderly. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 Saturday at Walcott Baptist Church with Rev. Rudy Ring and Rev. Raymond Atwood officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Matt, Nick, and Kameron Newberry, Quincy Roberts, David and Jason Arnold. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Shining Light Sunday School Class.
