Elvis H. Johnston, 91, passed away Tuesday, November 17th, 2015. He was born November 7th, 1924, to the late Charles and Lena Rowe Johnston. He was a veteran, serving in the Navy during World War II. He retired as a Deputy Sheriff from the Shelby County Sheriff's Department in Memphis, Tennessee. Elvis participated with the American Legion, and he was a 32nd degree Mason. Elvis was an avid horse lover. He loved trail rides and driving horse and buggies. He was a member of Finch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella May Hall Johnston; parents; and brothers, George, Eldon, and Floyd Johnston.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Johnston; son, Hershell Johnston (Sharon) of Lockhart, TX; step children, Phillip Harris and Cindy Hyde, both of Paragould, and James Harris of St. Charles, MO; granddaughters, Dawn Michelle Nabors and Heidi Lee Johnston Tabor, both of Memphis; and great grandchildren, Miranda Nabors of Memphis and Colin Tabor of Atlanta, GA.
Visitation will be Friday from 1-2 pm at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral will begin at 2 pm with Rev. Terry Gage officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Children's Homes of Paragould.
