Elizabeth Lorell Hagood Dowler

Elizabeth Lorell "Betty" Russom Hagood Dowler, 85, of Paragould, passed from this life on Thursday, May 12, 2022. She was born on November 25, 1936, to the late Buford and Liddie Russom. She graduated from Lafe High School and still has her name etched in the concrete where the school was located. She married Marion Hagood on September 14, 1957. Betty went to work that same year in the Ely & Walker Shirt Factory. She worked there many years until she retired as a supervisor. Betty was a member of Lake Street Baptist Church for many years. After the passing of Marion in 1999, Betty married Billy Dowler in 2005. She lived a good, Christian life, and she loved gathering with her church sisters in Christ. Betty always made time to attend her grandchildren's sporting events and school events. She would make dolls and give them to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty always made sure her grandchildren had Bibles, and she would share scripture with them. She was a very special, loving wife, mother, and friend, and we call her "Granny".

Betty is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Moe) Anderson of Paragould and Lesley Hagood of Evening Shade; son, Roger (Susan) Hagood of Rockhill, South Carolina; sisters, Peggy Gallion and Aneta Gallion of Jonesboro and Liddea Banks of Paragould; brothers, Joe Russom of New Mexico, Missouri, and Paul Russom of Bono; grandchildren, Ginger, Brian, Alane, John, Tyler, and Will; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded by her parents; first husband, Marion Hagood; second husband, Billy Dowler; and son, Shane Christopher Hagood.

A graveside funeral is Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 2pm at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Faulkner officiating. Honorary pallbearers are John Hagood, Will Hagood, Brian Anderson, Tyler Hagood, Lane Pendergrass, Vylan Walls, and Felix Gallion.
