Edith Wilma Bennett, 88, of Paragould, passed away Friday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She lived most of her adult life in St. Louis where she retired as a beautician. She then returned to Paragould and became a member of New Haven Baptist Church. Wilma taught Sunday School for years. She loved yard work, and she could make anything grow. She was also a great cook. Wilma was the daughter of the late Elvis and Lora White Wright. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wilbur Bennett; brothers, Vernon Wright and O.C. Wright; and sister, Thelma Cox.
Survivors include her son, Gerald (LeAnn) Bennett of Brenham, Texas; granddaughter, Lori (Marc) MacConnell of Sugar Land, Texas; great granddaughter, Katie MacConnell; siblings, Mozella Barber, Juanita White, Willis Wright, Frances Highfill, Norma Crafton, Lonnie Wright, Jasper Wright, and Wayne Wright; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral is Friday at 2 PM at Heath Funeral Home with Reverends Eddie Gene Wright and Ron Pickney officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Rick, Perry, Verlon, and Keith Wright, Dean Rollings, and Kenny Highfill. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Crafton, Marc MacConnell, and Michael White. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
