Edith Marie Friar, 89, of Paragould, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1920 the daughter the late William Monroe "Mon" and Minnie Russom Grooms. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Paul Friar, sons, Johnny Earl and J.W. Friar and James Henry Butler, sisters, Bessie Wren, Mable Smith, Elva Hayes, Mayo Garner, Zelma Crossno, brothers, Lester and Jessie Grooms. She was a homemaker and of Baptist belief. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra and Dewayne Watson, Jenny and Eddie Weatherford; sons and daughters-in-law: J.M. and Sue Friar, Jerry and Kim Friar, all of Paragould; daughter-in-law and her husband: Glenda and Robert Parten; sister: Evelyn Davis of Paragould; brothers: Elmer Grooms of Nashville, TN, Hulen Grooms of Mayflower; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and fifteen great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel, 2:00 PM, Sunday, with Rev. Dale Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
