Dr. Henry Carroll Watson, Jr., 92, of Paragould, passed away Saturday in Paragould. He was the son of the late Henry Carroll and Elizabeth Watson. Dr. Watson graduated from Northern Illinois College of Optometry in 1950. He was a practicing Optometrist for 50 years. His favorite hobby was Ham Radio and in 2001 Dr. Watson saved a woman lost at sea using Ham Radio. Henry was a member and past president of the Lions Club, he was a member and past president of the Greene County Amateur Radio Club; he served as president for the Northeast Arkansas Optometry Society, a member and past president of the American Legion and a Lifetime Member of the Arkansas Optometric Association. Dr. Watson was also an Army World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife Flora Elizabeth Watson and his daughter, Marilyn Louise Watson.
Survivors include son, Bruce (Lisa) Watson, of Paragould and his grandchildren Lindsay (Kirk) Watson Pfeifer and Lauren Watson of Paragould and two great grandchildren Aidan and Evan Helms.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-3 pm at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will be private.
