Dorothy J. Allmond

Dorothy J. Allmond, age 83, of Paragould, died Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Yorkshire Manor in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl S. Allmond of 52 years; son Mark A. Allmond; parents Marcus & Victoria Morrow; brothers Marcus & Kenneth. She is survived by her son Joseph Allmond and his significant other Linda Knuth of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three grandsons Jared Allmond, Justin Allmond, & Joshua Allmond all of Kalamazoo, Michigan; sisters Hallie Sue Corbett of Marmaduke, Arkansas & Leta Lou Whitney of Houston, Texas; and many cherished nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Dorothy graduated Paragould High School in 1944 then worked for the Navy Dept. until the end of WWII. She married Carl and moved to Flint, Michigan raising two sons. She developed her culinary skills to become a fabulous cook. Upon retiring she and Carl traveled throughout the US summering at Houghton Lake, Michigan and winters in southern states. They became permanent residents of Paragould in 1990. The family wishes to thank the care givers at Stonebridge & Yorkshire Manor in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Also to Diann Hyde of Paragould whose love and support has been invaluable. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Friday night at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday at Heath Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
