Don Perkey

Don Perkey, 85 of Paragould, died Thursday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Don was the owner/operator of Don Perkey’s Shoes and a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ. Don has been a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ since 1958, a member of the Paragould Kiwanis Club since 1958 with 46 years of perfect attendance and has received the George Hixson Fellow Award, he has always been an instrumental part of the Goodfellows Program, he was an avid golfer, a licensed embalmer and funeral director in Arkansas and Oklahoma, a World War II Navy veteran, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He was preceded in death by his parents Alvis and Ruthel Crow Perkey and sister Alveda Traylor. Survivors include his wife, Loree Campbell Perkey of the home; daughters, Donna (Robert) Helvering of Omaha, Ne, and Patti (Don) Ernst of Little Rock; grandchildren, Douglas (Megan) Helvering, Daniel Helvering, Kristin (Kyle) Jackson, Katie Ernst and Jonathan Ernst; a great grandchild Kallie Jackson. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00-8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 P.M. at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ with Larry McFadden and Michael Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Goodfellows Program. Children’s Home of Paragould or 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.
