Dennis Oldham Scudder

June 15, 1935 — August 22, 2020

Dennis Oldham Scudder was born June 15, 1935 in the Coffman Community South of Portia to Murrell Anderson and Faye Oldham Scudder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 56 years, Maleta Borah Scudder and a brother Leroy Scudder.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Parks Scudder of the home; two sons, Bobby Allen (Chunyan) Scudder of Richmond, VA, Jimmy (Darla) Scudder of Paragould. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Ben (Jenn), Kent, Ellen, Tyler (Heather), Trevor (Morgan) and three great grandsons, Jackson, Wyatt, and Reed; step-daughters, Kimber (Bruce) Johnson and family of Texarkana, Texas and Gina Hobbs and family from Paragould.

He graduated from Clover Bend High School in 1953. He surrendered to the ministry in 1969 and graduated Southwestern Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas in 1972.

He served 42 years in the gospel ministry in five churches in Texas, Florida, and Arkansas. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Paragould where he served as Minister of Music, Education, Senior Adults and Pastoral Care for 26 years.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Heath Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Dial officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jackie Fulton, Jason Noel, Butch Cooper, Tony Forehand, Scott Watson and Bryant Marshall. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Noel, Mack Hester and Mark Rowland.
