David Joe Hicklin, 74, of Paragould, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born to the late Joe and Geraldine Garner Hicklin on February 7, 1950, in Paragould and was raised in Cardwell. Graduating from Southland High School in Arbyrd in 1968, he went on to attend Southern Baptist College (now Williams Baptist College). During the Vietnam Era, he was drafted into the United States Army and spent 15 months stationed in South Korea. David was a proud veteran and was honored to serve his country. He was instrumental in bringing the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall to Paragould, an accomplishment that brought him much joy.

On May 2, 1975, he walked down the aisle with his beloved Regina Richardson, marking the beginning of a beautiful union that thrived for nearly five decades. David dedicated 30 years of service to the Arkansas Highway Department, retiring as a Crew Leader on April 18, 2012. Known for his passion for fishing, hunting - especially bird, deer, and duck hunting, and unwavering support for the St. Louis Cardinals, David found joy in these pursuits throughout his life.

A member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and the Harley Owner's Group (HOG), David cherished his time on two wheels, relishing the freedom of the open road. However, his heart always remained steadfast in his faith, as a devoted Christian and longstanding member of Harvest Baptist Church for over 45 years.

He leaves behind his loving spouse Regina Hicklin; sisters, Karen (Jerry) Beebe of Grand Blanc, Michigan and Barbara McAlexander of Lebanon, Missouri; brother, Chris (Cindy) Hicklin of North Little Rock; sister, Sherri (Randy) Smith of Paragould; many loved nephews and nieces, special fur babies, Bruce and Wilson; and a host of friends and colleagues who cherished his companionship.

Funeral services to honor David's life will take place at Heath Funeral Home on Monday, June 24, 2024, with visitation at 10:00 am. The funeral will begin at 11:00 am with Pastors Laramie LeQuieu and Jason Mears officiating. The service will conclude with military honors before departing for a private burial. Pallbearers will be Tyler Smith, Clint Richardson, Kevin Richardson, Brian Richardson, Ryan Flanrey, and Tim Blackburn. Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Bishop and Larry Garner. A veteran of the United States Army, his commitment to his country and community will always be remembered and revered.
