MSgt Daroyl Gene Askew, 82, of Paragould, passed away Saturday at his home. He was a retired salesman. MSgt Askew served 42 years in the United States Air Force. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and tending to his rose garden. Daroyl was the son of the late Clarence and Ruby Wallace. He was also preceded in death by his son, Daroyl Glen Askew.
Survivors included his wife of 63 years, Evelyn McConnell Askew; children, Kenneth Gene (Jean) McConnell of Loganville, Georgia, Dara Lynn Askew of Paragould, and Daren Dean Askew of Paragould; sister, Beverley Kjelaas of Grayson, Georgia; brother, Herbert (Marilyn) Askew of Lodi, California; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday evening from 5-7 at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral is Friday at 11 am at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Roger Tidwell officiating. Burial is in Linwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Chris Zaharopoulos, Lee Dillard, Daren Askew, Matthew Eisele, Scotty Smith, Ronny Smith, Jeremy Smith, and Bradley McConnell. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
