Cynthia Marie Shewmaker Rhodes

Cynthia Marie Rhodes, 62, of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away June 2, 2016 in College Station, Texas. Cyndi was born in Summit, New Jersey to Eddie and Reba Faye Shewmaker on July 22, 1953. She graduated Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in 1971. Although Cyndi was reared in New Jersey, she delighted to spend summer school vacations with her grandparents on their farm in the Stanford Community

Cyndi was a kind, gentle, loving soul who enjoyed traveling, cooking, and baking treats for her granddaughter. She loved the outdoors, animals, music, sunsets, objects of beauty and most of all her beloved family and friends.

Cyndi is survived by her son Avery Rhodes, daughter Adrienne Rhodes, beloved granddaughter Jadyn Rhodes, her parents Eddie and Reba Faye Shewmaker of Paragould, Arkansas, brother Jim Shewmaker and three sisters; Ann Turnbull, Jane Neu, and Mary Bachman as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Cyndi is preceded in death by her daughter Softness Rhodes and nephew Jacob Neu.

There will be a memorial service at 6:30 P.M. on July 8th in the Christian Care Center of the Center Hill Church of Christ 4904 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Croft Cemetery which is located on Greene County 641 Road. A second memorial service will be held on July 16th at Josefina’s Old Gate, 2261 Calle de Guadalupe, Mesilla, New Mexico, where Cyndi lived her adult years.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Cyndi's name to the Brazos Valley Hospice, a non-profit organization, whose support was invaluable during this time.
