Private family interment for Vernon Snell, 98 year old Buffalo, Wyoming resident who passed away Saturday afternoon at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Monday at 2:00 pm , May 21st at New Friendship Cemetery in Paragould, Arkansas.
Clyde Vernon Snell was born on May 14, 1919 in Trumann, Arkansas to Clyde C. and Dora M. Snell. He grew up and went to school in Trumann and graduated from Trumann High School with the class of 1938. After high school he attended Chillacothe School of Business for two years and received a certification in accounting. He was married in December of 1939 to Imogene Stallcup in Lepanto, Arkansas and they made their home in Lepanto where Vernon owned and operated a café. They sold the café in 1942 and moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked a variety of jobs. He joined the U.S. Navy in November of 1944 and served as a radar operator on a troop transport ship in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters during WWII. After the war he returned to Arkansas briefly and relocated to Southern California in December of 1947 where he worked in the insurance industry and retired from Metropolitan Life Co. after 25 years of service. Following retirement, he and Imogene moved to Paragould, Arkansas in August of 1989. Imogene passed away in July of 2003 and Vernon continued living in Paragould until 2006 when he moved to Buffalo, Wyoming to be near family. He had been a resident of Amie Holt Care Center since April of 2017 where he lived until his death.
Vernon had a passion for investing and was a serious investor. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid golfer and played well into his 70’s.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Al and Judy Snell of Buffalo, Wyoming.
