Elsie Lane, 86, of Paragould, died Saturday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was retired from the Central Intelligence Agency as a Clerk Typist. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Virginia Paul. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O. Lane, and son, Charles Lane. Elsie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. For many years, she was a member of a weekly bridge group and worked part-time at the Greene County Library. Nothing pleased her more than gathering relatives and friends around her dining table for a home-cooked meal and an afternoon of card playing or dice games. She maintained her home well into her 80's. At her door, many a stray animal found safe refuge, and grandchildren were greeted with open arms and a loving heart. Elsie loved a good book, a good joke, and a winning bingo card. We will miss her laughter, her light-heartedness, and her love. Elsie is survived by her son, Rick (Brenda) Lane, Paragould; daughter-in-law, Rose Lane, Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Tommy Lane, Paragould, Rebecca Lane, Nashville, TN, Jason (Emily) Lane, Philadelphia, PA, and Monica (Josh) Bundrant, Tucson, AZ; great grandchildren, Lilyana Lane and Miles Lane, both of Philadelphia, and Lydia Lane, Paragould; very dear cousin, Natty Towery; and several nephews and nieces. A Rosary will be held at Heath Funeral Home on Wednesday at 6pm. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8pm. The funeral service will be Thursday at 10am at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Mike Sinkler officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jamie Exum, Jerry Hoepfl, Mark Martin, Bryan Murray, Mark Owen, and Phil Pierceall. Honorary Pallbearers are Frank Gatlin and Gabe Cook. Memorials may be sent to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind, St. Mary's Scholarship Fund, or Greene County Animal Farm.
