Charles Robert Dudley peacefully went to his eternal home Monday, November 23, 2020.
He was born to Floyd Walker and Theodosia (Doty) Dudley in his grandmother’s house in Paragould October 24, 1929.
CR, as he was known by many, was preceded in death by his parents, and son Todd Gray Dudley.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jacqueline Gray Dudley, son Charles Robert Dudley II (Chuck) and wife Martha of Hot Springs, son David Walker Dudley and wife Karin of Paragould, grandson Robert Dudley (Adrian) of Maumelle, granddaughter Elise Dudley Chambliss (John) of Rogers, grandson Thomas Dudley (Alanna) of Springdale, daughter in law Brenda Dudley of Lafayette, LA., sister in law Marcia Ealy of Bryan, TX, several nieces and nephews, and lots of friends.
Charles Robert was best known in Greene County as the owner of the General Motors dealership, CR Dudley Motor Company. He served on the Paragould High School board, was commissioner of the Paragould Little League, a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Paragould, a Shriner, a Mason, and 99a lifetime member of the Arkansas Alumni Association. CR was an Air Force Veteran and served in Adak, Alaska, among other postings.
After retiring from the automobile business, he was a realtor, worked for the OCC helping close troubled banks in the 80’s, a financial advisor and loan review specialist with Security Bank, and a loan review analyst for American State Bank. He enjoyed helping people, and was always recognizable walking in downtown Paragould wearing his big cowboy boots.
CR and Jackie were a perfect couple from the beginning. They enjoyed travel, and family trips to Orange Beach, Alabama, which were always a highlight for them. They were excellent dancers, many nights hitting the floor at the Kingsway Supper Club. Their love lasted over 67 years.
Sports was a big part of the family’s life, and CR rarely missed a game that Chuck and Todd played both in high school and college. David was his chauffer to Razorback games, numerous bowl games, many Final Fours. He was a proud Paragould Bulldog, and a lifelong Razorback fan. Sports was the tie that bound father and sons together.
