Billy Joe Smith

Mr. Billy "Big Joe" Smith, a lifelong resident of Greene County, departed this life, Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born October 10, 1929 in Stanford, the son of the late Tom Smith and Mammie (Dacus) Smith. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Terry Hedge. Big Joe was a retired farmer from the Stanford area. He is survived by his wife, Lenora "Tooter" Smith; children: Jeff and Frankie Smith, Gail Hedge, Jina and Gary Henson, and Gigi and Jerry Wilson, all of Paragould; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Tommy Ray and Virginia Smith of Paragould and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at 1:30 PM Thursday at Heath Colonial Chapel with Darrell Austin and Phil Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
