Billy Akes

Billy Gerald Akes, 72, of Paragould, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Billy was born in Leachville on January 15, 1950, to the late William and Evelyn Akes. He worked for the city of Paragould in the street department. Billy enjoyed collecting model cars and Hot Wheels. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Loretta Wood; and son, Billy Akes, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Akes of the home; five stepchildren, Joseph (Shellie) Mullen of Paragould, Tricia (Tony) Gargus of Paragould, Jamie (Charlie) Cooper of Paragould, Thomas (Melinda) Mullen of Washington, and Bobbie (Carl) Morgan of Paragould; sister, Melba Lawson of Marmaduke; brother, Charles Akes of Paragould; and many nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 9-10 at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral begins at 10am with Rev. Jody Faulkner and Tony Gargus officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brayden Dinkins, Ryan Rangel, Donovan Rangel, James Wiggins, CJ Cooper, and James Morgan. . Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Cooper and Dakota Gargus.
