Bill Compton

William Drew "Bill Compton, age 91, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26. He was born March 17, 1916, at Delaplaine, Arkansas, to Drew and Bertie Gates Compton. He was a farmer in the Delaplaine area from the 1940’s into the 1990’s. He and Myrtle, his wife of 69 years, moved to Broken Arrow, OK, in 1994 to be near their daughter. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgetta, his parents, one brother, James Compton, Delaplaine, AR and one sister, Geneva Bridges, Corona,CA. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, daughter, Peggy and husband John, of Broken Arrow, one granddaughter, Laura Kinsey and husband, Alfred, of Austin, TX, one brother, Harold Compton, Medford, OR., three sisters, Hilda Galloway, Placerville, CA, Juanita Rogers, Mountain Grove, MO, and Evelyn Thomsen, San Diego, CA., numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He loved traveling, farming, gardening, fishing, hunting, telling jokes, blueberry cheesecake and going to church. He was a member of Delaplaine Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a member of Forest Ridge Baptist Church since 2000. He was active at Delaplaine Baptist Church as Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher of Intermediates, Training Union director and enjoyed being Bible quiz leader. The family will receive friends at Heath Funeral Home, Friday, from 6 -8 PM.
