Betty Jean Davis, 78, Lake City, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at St Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born January 19, 1933 in Leachville, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Charlie Lee and Pearl Archer Dixon. Her husband, Arley "Jack" Davis, daughter, Carol Davis, granddaughter, Kelly Mote, brother, Charlie Davis, Jr., sisters, Faye Niswonger and Wanda Johnson preceded her in death. She was retired from Lakeside Nursing Center after 19 years, and Arkansas State University after 13 years and was a member of Mt. Olive Free Pentecostal Church where she was Song Leader. Survivors include son, Larry Davis of Lake City; daughters: Betty Gail Smith of Lake City, Pam Mote of Jonesboro; two nephews they raised: Donnie Johnson of Paragould, Ricky Johnson of Rector; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; cousin, Trella Kleindierst; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel at 1:00 PM, Sunday, with Rev. Wayne McGill and David Mote, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery. Pallbearers are Nathan and Matt Davis, Wendell Kersey, Barry Crow, Bobby and Ken Box with her grandchildren being honorary pallbearers.
