Betty Ann Smoot, 71, of Marmaduke, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015. Betty was born October 1, 1944, to the late Omer Gilliam and Emilee Smoot. She was united in marriage to Darrell Smoot on February 3, 1962, in Paragould. Betty and Darrell Smoot were married for 53 years. Many of those years were spent operating their business, Smoot Manufactured Home, Inc., along with their daughter and son-in-law. Betty had a creative soul and used her innovative skills to decorate each and every home on the lot. Along with decorating, Betty enjoyed drawing, gardening and spoiling her grandkids no matter their age. She was also an active member of the Marmaduke First Baptist Church.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Omer Gilliam; mother, Emilee Smoot; son-in-law, Kelvin Reagans; and half-brother, Gary Gilliam.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Smoot of Marmaduke; daughter, Regina Reagans of Rector; granddaughter, Kelsey Smith (Trent) of Marmaduke; grandson, Kasey Reagans (Whitley) of Jonesboro; brother, Foy Gilliam (Bobbie) of Marmaduke; brother, James Dickinson (Vernetta) of Jonesboro; and half-brother, Ronald Gilliam of Michigan.
Visitation will be from 1-3 pm Sunday, November 8, 2015, at Marmaduke First Baptist Church, and the funeral will begin at 3 under the direction of Heath Funeral Home with Rev. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are John Hood, Butch Gilliam, Todd Shaw, Cliff Carter, Cory Shaw, and Gary Priest. Honorary pallbearers are Doyne Shaw, Jerry Don McIntosh, and Tom Barnett. Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church in Marmaduke.
