Betty Ellen Aldridge, 84, born September 7, 1940, to O.T. and Virdie Johnson passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at Liberty Park in Jonesboro.
Betty graduated from Paragould High School in 1957, and, after also graduating from Business School in Jonesboro, had an extended career with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Jonesboro and thereafter at AT&T in Little Rock, AR. Retiring after 31 years of loyal and dedicated service, she relocated to her hometown of Paragould. At the phone company, Betty was a member of the Pioneer Club and crocheted toboggans and scarves for children in the Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
Betty was a happy, carefree person who enjoyed her time with her family. She particularly enjoyed the family picnics and gatherings at Christmas time in St. Louis with festivities hosted by her sisters-in-law, Barbara Johnson and Joan Johnson.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Aldridge, and brothers, Leon Johnson and Julian Johnson, and sister Barbara Myers.
Betty is survived by one sister, Melba Hill; family Angie, Melanie, and Clint of St. Louis; brother and family, Sherrell and Regina Johnson, and Kristen and Kinslee Hurt of Paragould; sisters-in-law, Barbara Johnson and Joan Johnson; brother-in-law Lindon Hill, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private family viewing will be provided by Heath Funeral Home in Paragould, with a private graveside service to be held at Pruett's Chapel Cemetery to follow.
