Bernard J. Specking, 82, of Lafe, passed away Sunday at his residence. He retired from Emerson Electric after 27 years. Bernard served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War where he earned a Purple Heart. He was also a member of the VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending ballgames, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a very devoted family man. Bernard was Catholic by faith and a Knight of Columbus. He was the son of the late Roger Sr. and Laura Specking. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Horne and Mary Specking.
Survivors included his wife of 64 years, Wanda McClarty Specking of Lafe; children, Mary (Jeff) Carroll of San Antonio, Texas, Judy Brasher of Lafe, Nancy (Paul) Baldwin of West Helena, Arkansas, Roger (Gloria) Specking of Paragould, Bernard Jr. (Maria) Specking of Paragould, and David (Ginger) Specking of Lafe; grandchildren, Charles (Laura) Carroll, Elizabeth (Eugene) Carroll, Debra (Joe) Gaitan, Tracy (Greg) Leone, Craig (Karla) Brasher, Jennifer (Blake) Pepper, Eric (Claudine) Specking, Monica Specking, Sheena Potter, Nicole Woods, Crystal (Sam) Moody, Christopher (Julio) Specking, Carissa Specking, Andrea Hardin, and Jeremy (Mercedez) Houston; and great grandchildren, Stacie, Jozanna, Grayson, Gabriel, Kate, Chesney, Isabella, Emily, Alayna, Chloe, Jacob, Blaine, Braxton, Madison, Abby, Ronnie, David, Gabe, and Gary.
Visitation is Tuesday evening from 6-8 at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral is Wednesday at 10 am at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Eddie Harris officiating. Burial is in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Charles Carroll, Tracy Leone, Craig Brasher, Eric Specking, Sheena Potter, Debra Gaitan, Blaine Potter, and Braxton Woods. Honorary pallbearers are Carissa Specking, Monica Specking, Nicole Woods, Elizabeth Carroll, Jennifer Pepper, Karla Brasher, and Greg Leone. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Campground United Methodist Church.
