Barry Cohn Lloyd, cherished husband, father, and beloved community member, passed from this life peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on May 16, 1946, in Paragould, to the late B.C. and Dorothy Lloyd, Barry spent his life in the town he loved, creating lasting memories and connections that will resonate for generations to come.
Barry graduated from Paragould High School in 1965 and began a remarkable journey that intertwined love and vocation. At the tender age of 15, he began dating the love of his life, Gretta Morten, with whom he shared a deep bond. Their love story culminated in marriage on July 9, 1966, an event that marked the beginning of a beautiful life together, filled with shared dreams and family.
As a draftsman, Barry was a master of design, known for his ability to visualize and draw anything. His professional pursuits included years spent drafting house plans and building spec houses, as well as a brief period of selling used cars, before ultimately founding Lloyd's Truck and Tractor Sales. An industrious man, he devoted over 50 years to raising Polled Herefords and could often be found baling hay for neighbors and friends. His resourcefulness extended to his knack for fixing and building anything that crossed his path, showcasing a talent that endeared him to all who knew him.
Barry held a lifelong passion for agriculture, frequently attending cattle sales, where he relished the camaraderie of fellow ranchers. His love for the community was evident in his active participation in the county fair, where he began an endearing tradition of taking his tractor to the derby to assist those in need during the event. For over half a century, Barry remained a steadfast presence at the derby, earning the affection of many.
Throughout his life, Barry was a dedicated member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where his faith and commitment to his community were unwavering.
