Barry Lee Ketchum, age 67, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away on April 5, 2025. Born on January 25, 1958, in Michigan, Barry lived a life dedicated to service, honor, and love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy rooted in his commitment to public safety and his unwavering dedication to those he served.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Barry fulfilled his duty as a firefighter, embarking on tours of duty across the globe. His military service instilled in him a deep appreciation for discipline and camaraderie, values that shaped his character. After returning from service, Barry spent 26 years as a police officer with the Fairbanks Airport Police in Alaska before retiring in 2006. His tenure in law enforcement was marked by a commitment to protecting and serving the community, guiding many with integrity and compassion.
Barry had a passion for military history, often seen reading history books or engrossed in documentaries on the History Channel. He enjoyed rebuilding motors on cars, a testament to his hands-on nature and love for mechanics. Additionally, Barry cherished moments spent at the gun range, further showcasing his dedication to skill and precision. He was also a former member of the U.S. Marshals Service, continuing his lifelong pursuit to uphold justice.
He is survived by his sons, Tracie Ketchum and Casey Ketchum; his sister, Terry Powers; his brother, Larry Lee Ketchum; and his cherished grandchildren, Mercedes Ketchum, Levi Ketchum, and Alyssa Ketchum. Each of them will carry his spirit and values forward in their lives.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Ketchum and Shirley Smith; and his brother, Jerry Lee Ketchum.
Barry's life was one of service, dedication, and familial love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a blessing.
