Barbara Spades Kelly

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Kay Spades Kelly, affectionately known as "Mawmaw," on April 5, 2025, at the age of 72. Barbara was born on January 13, 1953, in Rockford, IL, and lived a life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, Barbara is survived by her beloved daughter, Kesha Liles and son-in-law, Anthony Liles; her son, Darryl Knight and daughter-in-law, Mica Knight; and her precious grandchildren, Toni (Kaleb Newman) Liles, Anthony Liles, Jr., Hailey Knight, Sebastian Knight, Brooklyn Knight, and Mason Houston; and great-grandson, Grayson Phillips. She also leaves behind her brother, John (Debbie) Spades; sister-in-law, Shirley Spades; special friends, Mary Autry and Annell George; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Sebastian and Alta Spades; brothers, Joe Spades, Richard Spades, and Dan Spades; and niece, Melissa Spades.

Barbara spent over 15 years at Walmart, where she worked in various departments over the years. Outside of work, she had a passion for swimming, loved soaking up the sun at the beach, and enjoyed friendly games of poker and puzzles. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family, sharing laughter, and creating unforgettable moments together.

Barbara was a proud member of the Baptist faith, finding comfort and strength in her beliefs.

The family will honor Barbara's life with a visitation on April 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, all taking place at Heath Funeral Home, providing an opportunity for loved ones to come together and celebrate Barbara's remarkable journey.

Mawmaw will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
