Anna Brown

Anna Bell Brown, of Brookland, passed away at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at the age of 99 on September 10, 2024. Born in Chadwick, Missouri on August 15, 1925, she will be remembered fondly by her family and loved ones.

Anna dedicated over two decades of her life to Arkansas State University as a dedicated food server, catering to the needs of the University's football team. Her dedication and exceptional service will always be remembered and appreciated by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Anna had a passion for flowers that knew no bounds. Her lush gardens, spanning acres, were a testament to her love for nature and beauty. Travelers passing by could admire the vibrant displays she meticulously cultivated throughout the years.

In her leisure time, Anna enjoyed browsing through flea markets, always on the lookout for hidden treasures and unique finds. However, her true joy and solace came from the companionship of her beloved feline friend, Skippy, who brought her comfort and warmth during quiet moments at home.

Anna is survived by her son, Vernon "Butch" (Judy) Brown of Brookland; daughter, Brenda (Monty) Montgomery of Counce, Tennessee; and her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Anna is preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Sarah Henslee; husband, Hermon Brown; brothers, Charlie, Lester, and Clell; and sisters, Sadie, Sarah, Rachel, and Maggie.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 12-1 pm at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 1 pm with Pastor Stacy Prater officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery, a serene location befitting the beauty Anna cherished in life. Pallbearers are Bo Freeman, Roger Anderson, John O'Steen, Keith O'Steen, James Morgan, and Jeremy Morgan.

Though Anna's physical presence may be no more, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her. May her memory be a source of solace and inspiration during this time of loss.
