Alvin Virgil Lindley, 97, of Corning, passed away August 22, 2012 in Corning. He was born June 15, 1915 in Loredo, Arkansas to the late Claude and Mattie Jane Lindley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Almeda, daughter, Brenda Smith, sister and brother-in-law, Bulah Mae and James Hanna, brothers and sisters-in-law: Donald and Viva Lindley, Elbert and Mary Lindley. At 97, he has outlived all of his siblings. Virgil served in the U.S. Navy, sold insurance and after 40 years of sales and service with West Nash Motors, he retired. He also did farming of his own land. Virgil was an active member of the Corning Church of Christ. Virgil is survived by his oldest daughter and her husband: Sue and Lee Hatler of Goleta, California; grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Chris and Lisa Hatler; three great grandchildren: Maisie Rose (5), Jacob (3), from Ventura, California and Erika Hatler, 19, of Goleta, California; nephews: Norris Lindley, Randy Hannah; nieces: Ruth Lindley Calvert, Martha Brown, Janna Minor. A special thanks and appreciation to the staff and nurses at Corning Therapy and Living Center for the quality of care given the two years Virgil resided there.
