Aileen Bernice Fletcher, a devoted mother, dedicated Headstart nurse, and cherished member of the community, passed away on March 28, 2024, at her home in Manila, Arkansas, at the age of 92. Aileen was born on March 11, 1932, in Cardwell, Missouri, and her life was a testament to love, kindness, and service.
Known affectionately as "Miss Nurse" by the children who she tended to at Headstart, Aileen will be remembered for her warmth, her passion for quilting, and her generosity in gifting beautifully crafted quilts to loved ones. She found joy in tending to her flowers, expressing herself through painting, and sharing her talents with those around her. Aileen was an active member of the Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell, where her faith and devotion shone brightly.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion to be carried on by her son, Bobby Fletcher, her daughter, Phyllis Fletcher, her brother Glen (Pat) Phelps, sister-in-law Joan Phelps, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who adored her. Aileen's family, including her granddaughters Clarissa (Tim) Horn and Melissa Druien, her grandson Cullen (Mariah) Fletcher, and her great-grandchildren Amelia Horn, Eli Horn, and twins Mack and Von Fletcher will forever treasure the memories and teachings she shared with them.
Aileen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert Lee Fletcher, her parents Joel (Eb) and Dovie Phelps, her sisters Dorothy Jarrett, Barbara Cruit, Rachel Keasler, Norma Bartle, and brothers, Joel Phelps and Dennis Phelps.
A funeral service celebrating Aileen's life will be held at Heath Funeral Home on April 3, 2024, at 11:00 am. A public viewing will take place on April 2, 2024, at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Aileen will be laid to rest at Cardwell Cemetery, surrounded by those who loved her dearly.
Aileen Bernice Fletcher's life was a tapestry of love, faith, and compassion, woven with care and devotion. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy of kindness lives on through her family and all those she touched during her remarkable life.
