Agnes Evelyn Manis

Agnes Evelyn Manis, 96, of Paragould, passed from this life on Thursday, August 31, 2023. She was born in Cardwell, Missouri, on April 10, 1927, to the late Van and Anna Bishop and attended school in Cardwell through high school. She married Thomas Barnett and started a family. A few years after Thomas's death in 1970, Agnes married Marvin Manis. Agnes was a homemaker and a member of Rosewood Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, oil painting, and tending her flower garden. Agnes was a gifted seamstress, and she would often make clothes for her children and grandchildren. She even sewed several wedding gowns for her daughter and granddaughters. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; second husband; son, Van Allen Barnett; brothers, Johnny Bishop and Jim Bishop; and sisters, Bobbie Holland and Jo Ann Bradshaw.

Agnes is survived by her son, Tom (Ernestine) Barnett of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Paula (Rick) Briggs of Morgantown, West Virginia; grandchildren, Lisa Davis of Morgantown, Clay (Laura) Barnett of Sherman, Ryan (April) Barnett of Fort Johnson, Louisiana, Amanda (Brad) Spickard of Swampscott, Massachusetts, and Lindsey (Scott) Barnett-Snyder of Paragould; great grandchildren, Haley, Hannah, Thomas, Chris, Jocelyn, Ryan "JR", Victoria, and Noelle; and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 8, 2023, from 5-7 PM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral is Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10 AM at Heath Funeral Home with Rev. Heath Vines officiating. Burial will follow in Cardwell Cemetery. Pallbearers are Scott Snyder, Bryson Hayden, Tim Johnson, Tim Wells, Danny Ryan, and Jeff Cupples.
