Today we celebrate and reflect upon the extraordinary life of William Riley "Bill" Mathis, III, who left us on January 26, 2024, at the age of 66. Bill touched the lives of many with his kindness, talent, and passionate spirit.
Born on October 14, 1957, Bill embraced life with an unwavering enthusiasm. Throughout his journey, he found joy in the simple pleasures, cherishing his family and leaving lasting impressions on everyone he encountered.
Bill dedicated many years of his life to Dr. Pepper, contributing his skills and commitment to the success of the company. Later on, he embarked on a new chapter at Martin Sprocket and Gear, where he continued to excel in his profession, leaving a mark of excellence that will forever be remembered.
Art was not simply a pastime for Bill; it was a part of his very being. He possessed a unique talent for arts and crafts and had a love for drawing that knew no bounds. His creations were a reflection of his vibrant imagination and artistic prowess, and they will forever preserve his creative spirit.
As a true Star Trek fanatic, Bill ventured boldly into the realm of science fiction. He found solace and inspiration in the captivating stories of the Enterprise crew, boldly going where no man had gone before.
Bill's spirit will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. His beloved daughter, April (Mike Vickers) Mathis and his son, Timothy William (Amanda) Mathis, will forever carry his legacy and strive to embody his unwavering zest for life. He also leaves his grandchildren, Zach Lee, Jason William Mathis, Chance Alexander Mathis, and Karlee Jean Mathis; brothers, Donald Mathis and Benjamin (Debbie) Mathis, Jr.; and sister, May Mooney. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Wilson "Ben" Mathis, Sr. and Faye Elizabeth Stewart Mathis.
Please join us in honoring the life of Bill Mathis at a visitation being held at Heath Funeral Home on January 30, 2024, from 6-8 pm. These ceremonies will create a space for us to reminisce, share stories, and find solace in one another as we celebrate the remarkable life of our dear Bill.
