Philip Aaron Brumett

March 4, 1961 — March 6, 2023

Philip Aaron Brumett, 62, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Monday, March 6, 2023. He was born in Paragould on March 4, 1961, to the late Robert "Bob" and Betty Brumett. Phil graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1979. During this time, he had a silver Chevrolet Z28 Camaro. He went to work at Kroger because he could park his Camaro while he was at work at the end of the cruising strip for people to see. Phil continued working at Kroger for 47 years. He became the owner of Phil's Golf Cart Service, and he enjoyed all the relationships he created during his ownership. He considered himself a food advocate. If there was a new restaurant in town, Phil would give it a taste. Phil was a member of Highland Drive Baptist Church in Jonesboro. He was extremely dedicated to everything he did, but nothing was greater than his dedication to his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him. He would buy tickets and attend RedWolves games only to watch his granddaughter, Mollybeth, dance during half time. When half time was over, he was ready to leave. His grandson, Carson, spent the summer working on golf carts with him, and he cherished every moment. He was the ultimate Paw Paw, and his grandchildren were his greatest joys. Phil had more friends than he could count, and he was loved by all of them. Phil was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Rodney Michael Brumett; and father-in-law, Milton Brumley.

Phil is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathy Brumett of Jonesboro; daughter, Stacy (Charles) Slaughter of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Mollybeth Drew and Carson Slaughter, both of Jonesboro; mother-in-law, Barbara Brumley of Walnut Ridge; very special cousin, Judy Stonebrook; and dozens of friends who were special to him. In addition to his friends and family, the Comfort Care staff at Regional One Health Medical Center in Memphis became very special during Phil's stay as they provided excellent and compassionate care to the entire family.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12-1 PM at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. The funeral will begin at 1 PM with Rev. Johnny Hutchison officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Randy and Devin Snell, Rees Dunlap, Alan McDaniel, Jeremy Jones, John Vinson, and Steve Howerton. Honorary pallbearers are Carter Petty, David Nelms, and Dick Crumbaugh. To honor Phil, please send memorials to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org.
