James Denver Nicholas, 95, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday at his residence. He was the son of the late Armedis and Rena Dickinson Nicholas. He was retired from General Motors and attended South Olga Baptist Church in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was also a 32nd degree Mason residing at Martinsburg, West Virginia. His hobbies included traveling, fishing, carpentry work, and "tinkering with anything that was broken to fix it." He is also preceded in death by Pauline Nicholas; and one daughter, Gloriadean Nicholas.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Carla (Sean) Moore, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Latisha Garner, of Jonesboro; great grandchildren, Aaron Moore, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Caleigh (James) Dumas, of Sherwood, Arkansas, Neely (Brad) Gladys, of Kirkland, Washington, Anthony Garner, of West Plains, Missouri, Emily Carter, of Winchester, Virginia, and Lori Barrett, of Alton, Missouri; four great-great grandchildren, Camden and Jordan Gladys, Gabriel Garner, and Carter Dohm; two nephews, Wyaman (Marie) Williams, of Frankfort, Michigan and Gale (Sharon) Brewer, of Moscow, Tennessee; and two nieces, Sue (Ron) Torbit, of Nixa, Missouri and Phyllis Davison, of Paragould, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:00-10:00 am at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral service to follow beginning at 10:00 am with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will be at New Friendship cemetery. Send memorials to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
