Gladys “Boo” Masters Harris died peacefully, Wednesday at Greene Acres surrounded by her loved ones.
Among those welcoming her to her heavenly home will be her loving husband of 63 ½ years, Jeffery Hanks Harris, who passed away January 3, 2007.
They first met at Kirby’s Drug Store on Pruett Street in Paragould when they were 16 years old. They married June 28, 1943, three weeks after Jeffery turned 17.
They were baptized and joined First Baptist Church in Paragould on March 16, 1952. They so enjoyed worshiping with family and friends.
Through the years, Gladys and Jeffery were often seen eating out at Panama Café, Corner Café, Lamb’s Cafeteria, Tony’s, Guy’s/Simpkins, Dixie Café, Wendy’s and especially Dairy Queen.
Gladys enjoyed shopping and frequenting the beauty shop.
Her parents were Gertrude (Hamilton) Masters and Jacob Charlie Masters
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Jeffery Harris, brother, Bill Masters; sisters, Julia Richardson, Ina Schrock, Ethel Taylor, Jane Hyde and 6 infant siblings.
Survivors include her daughters, Janet Welshans of Bossier City, LA, Glenda & Mike Spain and Cathy Wilkin of Paragould. 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the caring nurses and staff at Sunshine Manor, AMMC, Greene Acres Nursing Home and St. Bernard’s Hospice for their loving care of our “Boo”.
Graveside services will be Friday at 12:00 noon at Linwood Cemetery with Revs. Joe Marsden and Tracy Archibald officiating. There will be a visitation at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in the old Fellowship Hall.
