Gene Macon Powers, 83 of Paragould, died Wednesday at Greene Acres Nursing Home. He was born April 8, 1925, in Paragould. He was a retired painter. Macon was a member of the Church of Christ. He has given sermons and led singing at many churches in the area in the past. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II with the 101st Airborne Division. Survivors include a son, Danny R. Powers of Mountain Home, AR; daughter, M. Jean Stillwell Brugmann of Yuba City, CA; three grandsons, Chad R. Powers of Los Angeles, CA, Anthony B. Stillwell, Gerald W. Stillwell; and three great grandsons, Tyler D. Stillwell, Cody A. Stillwell and Tanner C. Stillwell, all of Yuba City, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tom Sikes of Paragould, AR; and brother, Doyle M. Powers, of Paragould, AR. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Powers; parents, Calvin and Maggie Sims Powers; sister, Janice Dodson; and brothers, William “A.C.†Powers, G. W. “Junior†Powers and Myron “Jay†Powers. Gene requested that as he forgave all; may all forgive him! Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Heath Colonial Chapel with L. R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Knot Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Children’s Home of Paragould.
