Betty J. Fletcher, 86, died on Friday, August 26, 2022 at her home in Paragould. She was born in Bollinger County, Missouri on October 15, 1935. After high school while working in San Diego, California, she met and married Richard Marshall, deceased. Richard and Betty had three children. She is survived by her son, Bryant (Elaine) Marshall and their son, Evan, her daughter, Tammy Tilley (Rickey) and Tammy's children, Chase Hayes (Emily) and Anna Hayes and her daughter Kelley Davidson and Kelley's children, Tyler Thompson (Annie Montgomery) and Taryn Thompson Laws (Findley) and 4 great grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her brother Ray McCormick (Anna) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, her sister Dolores Cooke of Charleston, South Carolina. After Richard's death, she married Avon Fletcher and was blessed with his love and care for 26 years until his death in 2007. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Cooper, and her twin sister, Ann Higgins.
Betty professed faith in Jesus Christ as the son of God and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Paragould, since 1959. She ministered in the church's Lay Pastoral Care ministry for many years until her infirmity prevented her from serving.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Paragould with the Rev. Dane Womack officiating. After the memorial, a reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall. Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 404 W. Main St., Paragould, AR 72450.
